Review

The Nokia AirScale AHEGC is a dual-band, high-power remote radio head designed for Multi Standard Base Station operation. It covers Band 3 with a 1710-1785 MHz receive range and an 1805-1880 MHz transmit range, as well as Band 1 with a 1920-1980 MHz receive range and a 2110-2170 MHz transmit range. The radio provides four virtual-band TX/RX paths and supports 4TX/RX operation on both Band 1 and Band 3. The installation standard lists 256QAM as the maximum supported modulation, full-band LTE instantaneous and occupied bandwidth, and output power of up to 60 W per band per port with a maximum combined total of 100 W per port. AHEGC connects to an AirScale BBU through two optical CPRI interfaces operating at 9.8 Gbit/s. It includes four 4.3-10 antenna ports, an RET interface, an MDR-26 external-alarm interface with four inputs and one output, a high-power circular DC connector, grounding points and an actively cooled fan system. The unit operates from nominal -48 V DC within a -36 V to -60 V range. The documented busy-hour power consumption is 983 W with both bands active at the stated transmit configuration and 646 W with one band active. It is specified for -40°C to +55°C operation without solar load, IP65 ingress protection and pole or wall mounting. Software upgradeability to concurrent LTE and NR is stated as a product benefit and must be confirmed for the supplied hardware and software configuration.
